Worked example

For example, for a roof with 15 squares of area:

  1. 15 squares × 3 bundles per square = 45 bundles needed
  2. Each bundle covers roughly 33 sq ft
  3. Standard pallet: 30-36 bundles per pallet
  4. Order 50 bundles to cover starter strips, ridge caps, and waste
  5. Also order ridge vent, drip edge, and underlayment

Common mistakes

MistakeWhy it matters
Not matching the shingle color across bundlesMix bundles from different pallets as you work for even color distribution
Installing in cold weatherShingles need warm temps to seal — below 40°F, the adhesive strips wont activate
Overdriving nailsNail heads should be flush with the shingle surface — driven too deep they puncture and leak
